Please share the handouts with your club and emphasize the benefits to the individual, as well as, to your club. There is a December 31 deadline for the application and grant process.  If interested, contact Gary or Kathy.

Maximum participation was encouraged for Spring conference in Bellingham, April 12-14, 2012.

Zone H-7 2012 Calendar

Merry Christmas, the Best of the Seasons and a Happy New Year!

2012 is soon upon us and if you are anything like me you probably have a new calendar or two that you are about to post. How about taking a moment and marking it up, (or updating your smart phone), by including some important Zone H7 Lions events that are just around the corner?

February 9-12 is the Northwest Lions Leadership Institute in Gig Harbor, WA. This is a great opportunity for personal development that benefits our Lions organization. There is

more information available at www.nwlli.org Please bear in mind that there is a December 31, 2011 enrollment deadline.

April 12-14 is the MD19 District H Spring Conference at the Best Western in Bellingham, WA. Conveniently within commuting distance, this is a great opportunity for fun, comradeship and informative panels. I hope to see you there.

April 21 is the Zone Project where we help the Deception Pass Park get ready for the coming season. I trust that you are aware of the budget cutbacks and how much our help is truly appreciated.

May 12 is the Zone H7 Club Officer training at Farmhouse Restaurant near La Connor, WA. It is a great opportunity for newly elected officers to learn about the duties and responsibilities of their new offices, as well as, for past officers to remain current

and to share their lessons learned. It is vital to the health of our clubs that we have trained and capable club officers.

Another thing I like to do before the start of a new year is to clear as many debts as I can. I know we have clubs that have budget line items for Leader Dogs, LCIF, MD19 Care, etc. that will wait until the end of the Lions Year to provide their donations.  I highly encourage you to submit those donations now.

Northwest Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (LERC)

Just a heads up for now, but Oak Harbor Lion Charlie Van Cleve has volunteered to take over for Central Whidbey Lion Ginny Munn as the Northwest Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (LERC) Zone H7 Satellite Coordinator. She will be accepting the eyeglasses that our clubs collect throughout the zone and will need help with sorting, cleaning and delivering. I know she can count on our support.

Central Whidbey Lions Announcements/Upcoming Events

PTA Winterfest Breakfast:  Will be Saturday, 10 December, from 9-12 am at the Coupeville

Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room.  All volunteers will please show up NLT 8:00 am for set up.  Neal, Gary, Ginny, Dick, Jim Rich, John Burks and Paul Weatherly have volunteered to be pancake makers and servers.

Let's get the word out to family and friends to bring their children, grandchildren and others to come support the PTA and your fellow

Central Whidbey Lions as they cook up the annual pancake breakfast!

Shopping  and Santa for the kids is available!

Central Whidbey Lions Christmas Party:  Scheduled for 15 December at the Tyee, 12:00 Noon.  It will be a “white elephant” gift exchange, crazy hat day, and Lions are requested to bring non-perishable food donations for the food bank.

“11th Annual Recycle Your Tree” with Troop 53, will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2012.  You can help Boy Scout Troop 53 raise funds for the upcoming year by recycling your Christmas tree with the troop.  Call Kathy at 678-3263 if you wish to have your Christmas tree picked on January 8th.  By Donation only.  Tell your friends and family too.  And thank you for your continued support of Troop 53.

CPR Training:  This meeting could save your life - or that of someone you love or someone you don't even know!

Topic: The NEW CPR. See and train on the new CPR that is saving lives. New evidence proves this update to traditional CPR is saving more lives. Bring your spouse and friends.

Speaker/Demonstrator: Robert May, Whidbey General Hospital Emergency Medical Services Department

Date: Thursday, January 19th

Place: Race Road Fire Station Community Meeting Room

Time: Noon to 1PM, although Robert will be there 11:30 to 1:30

Lunch: Pizza and Soda provided, but we need to know how many are attending so we can order the right amount of pizza and soda.  Let Kathy know if you will attend.

This is a replacement meeting for our normal meeting at The Tyee since we can't spread out and try what we learn in the confines of The Tyee.
